What is Mother’s day?

Mothers’ day is celebration respecting the mother of the family. This day is for some individuals to show their thankfulness towards moms. Mother’s Day praises motherhood and the commitment of moms in our community. It is frequently set apart by individuals sending Mother’s Day endowments and cards to their mothers.

History of Mother’s Day

Ann Reeves Jarvis was a social activist and community organizer during the American Civil War era. She organized some “Mother’s Day Work Clubs” during the 1850s the name of the clubs was later changed to “Mother’s Friendship Clubs”.  She tried as often as possible communicated a desire for the foundation of such a holiday.

I hope and pray that someone, sometime, will found a memorial mothers day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life. She is entitled to it.

Ann Reeves Jarvis

Anna Maria was the founder of Mother’s Day in the United States. She was the daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis.  On May 10, 1908, three years after her mom’s passing, Jarvis held a dedication service to respect her mom and all moms at West Virginia, and found financial backing to host an official International Mother’s day celebration.
